We are pleased to report that this year's Mayor of Waltham Forest is the Liberal Democrat councillor for Hale End and Highams Park (a Chingford and Woodford Green constituency ward), Sheila Smith-Pryor.

Sheila is a nurse within the NHS and has a long record of service to the community. Her chosen local charities for the year are "Branches" which operates a day care centre for the homeless and MS Action, one of only four units around the country which is able to provide hyperbaric oxygen to victims of MS and cerebral palsy to help improve the quality of their lives.

We are sure that, in her, Waltham Forest has an excellent ambassador and we wish her well in all her good work.
