Dr Geoff Seeff, the Liberal Democrat's prospective parliamentary candidate for Chingford and Woodford Green has added his name to the supporters of the Royal British Legion's manifesto for the forthcoming election. Candidates were invited to pledge support for the Armed Forces beyond the next session of parliament on the following key policies:-
Geoff takes the pledge at the Bournemouth Conference
For Service Personnel
to improve and keep the Armed Forces Compensation scheme under continual review;
to stop breaches of the harmony guidelines in order to reduce family separation and the incidence of breakdown
For Bereaved Armed Forces Families
to provide bereaved Armed Forces families with independent legal advice during inquests;
to introduce an independent advisory committee on military deaths to advise coroners and allow families a voice
For Veterans and Families
to make NHS priority treatment work for veterans with injuries caused by service in the Armed Forces;
to tackle poverty among older veterans and veterans' families.
Said Geoff "Our service men and women are an incredibly brave and disciplined group of people who are, or were, prepared to lay down their lives for the protection of the country and their fellow citizens. It is incumbent on us, as taxpayers, to offer them the moral and financial support they need whilst in the services and continue to do so when they have completed their careers in the Armed Forces".
